This page is for IT partners. When a Wally customer asks us to connect their on-prem accounting software, we email their IT partner a link to this page. Below you'll find how to download, install and configure the Windows agent.

The agent is built on Peliqan Satellite, the on-prem sync agent of our data platform partner Peliqan — that is the name you will see in the installer and in the Windows services list. It runs on your Windows server, reads from the on-prem database of the accounting software, and syncs that data to the Wally cloud data warehouse.

Before you start

What you need Details
Windows server With network access to the database of the accounting software
Source database SQL Server (with TCP/IP enabled) or an ODBC source such as Actian Zen DB (source database of the accounting software)
Database user A dedicated SQL Server user — not Windows authentication
Outbound connectivity From the server to the Wally cloud data warehouse (BigQuery)
Target code Code to enter for the Target configuration, provided by Wally in an email

No inbound firewall rules are needed. The agent only makes an outbound connection, and it only ever reads from your database.

Step 1 — Prepare the source database

The agent connects to the on-prem database of the accounting software, for example SQL Server.

SQL Server

  1. Make sure TCP/IP is enabled in SQL Server.
  2. Create a SQL Server user for the agent and use it for authentication on your databases.

<aside> âš ī¸

Use SQL Server authentication, not Windows authentication. The Wally Service runs under a different Windows user, which causes authentication to fail.

Granting access to databases created in the future

Some accounting software (e.g. Expert/M, Adsolut) create a separate database per dossier. If the agent should pick those up as soon as they appear, grant instance-wide access:

GRANT CONNECT ANY DATABASE TO [peliqan];
GRANT SELECT ALL USER SECURABLES TO [peliqan];
Permission What it does
CONNECT ANY DATABASE Lets the agent connect to every database on the SQL Server instance, present and future
SELECT ALL USER SECURABLES Lets the agent select from all tables and views in any database it can connect to
